1. What exactly is exfoliation?

Exfoliation is the general term for the process that removes dead skin cells. 

2. What happens?

Exfoliants gently remove built-up dead skin for smoother, noticeably renewed skin.

3. Who is exfoliating for? 

It's for everyone! Whether you love spending hours on your makeup, or you're a mascara and chapstick kind of girl, exfoliating your face and body regularly will help to prep your skin and keep it in its best condition, no matter what your preference is. 

Caring for your skin should NOT be optional; it's a necessity! When your skin is fresh and glowing with good health, your makeup will look 1000 times better (because of your gorgeous skin). You'll even become less reliant on it to cover things up (because there won't be anything to cover up, duh). 

4. What are the benefits? 

Exfoliation is one of the most important aspects of skin care and can drastically change your skin's appearance over time. It is a process that is meant to support your daily skincare routine.

In our opinion, exfoliating is just as important as brushing your teeth. 

Environmental damage causes the surface of the skin to become dull, rough, and uneven. Exfoliating eliminates this build up, which otherwise would cause clogged pores, uneven skin tone, acne and large pimples, and worsen the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles.

Exfoliating will:

  • unclog pores 
  • minimize redness
  • diminish the look of wrinkles and age spots
  • hydrate your skin
  • visibly improve uneven skin tones

5. Other benefits:  

Exfoliating is one of the only skin routines that leaves the skin noticeably smoother after just ONE application. It is also great for people with dry skin as it allows better moisture penetration (meaning you won't have to apply as much moisturizer). 

6. How often you should exfoliate? 

That depends on your #skincaregoals!

If you just want to smooth out rough skin, weekly exfoliating is a great place to start. If you have more ambitious goals, like wrinkle or scar reduction, you will probably end up exfoliating three times a week. 

7. How long will it take before I see results? 

If you are looking for real change, it will take months.  You aren’t just changing how you skin looks; you are actually changing how it is. It needs time to grow into its better self. Going slow will produce better results than doing too much too fast and actually damaging your skin. 

Start off with once a week, and slowly work your way up. 

8.The aftermath 

You'll feel confident in your skin, no makeup required! Your body will feel soft, moisturized, and glowy, and you'll soon start to get compliments on your skin. Add a little mascara and some lipgloss, and you'll be good to go.

2. Buy products with fewer ingredients that you actually recognize! 

If the products you use contain harmful ingredients such as toxic chemicals, colours, and fragrances, those ingredients make their way into your body, your blood and lymphatic system.

If your skin is as sensitive as mine, it’ll quickly show you it does NOT like chemicals! Insert red dot here, here and here…

Koffee Organics body scrubs are made of certified organic food ingredients – So safe you could eat it, or casually swallow it while you're in the shower. We won't judge you. 

But what does it take for food to be considered “certified”?

If you can spot the "USDA Organic" or even "Certified Organic" seal on the label of your food item or product, the item must have an ingredient list and the contents should be 95% or more certified organic. This means free of synthetic additives like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes.

On top of this, the items must not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering, according to the USDA. The remaining 5% may only be foods, or processed with additives on an approved list.

"Certified Organic" isn't the only label you'll see though. You may also see "100% organic," which means all of the ingredients must meet the guidelines above.

You may also spot labels that say "made with organic," which means that the ingredients must contain 70% or more organic ingredients. In this case, the USDA seal cannot be used anywhere on the package, and the remaining 30% could contain ingredients on the list of items not certified or natural


Skin is the LARGEST organ in your body, and is extremely porous and absorbs whatever you put on it. A study published in the American Journal of Public Health looked into the skin's absorption rates of chemicals found in drinking water. It showed that the skin absorbed an average of 64% of total contaminant dosage.

As mentioned above, coconut oil is highly useful as a topical moisturizer due to its hydrating abilities. You may not know this, but your skin cells actually contain fatty acids, just like most other cells in your body.

4. Repair and prevent damage to your hair

Coconut oil is also known to prevent combing damage. When compared to various other oils such as sunflower oil and mineral oil, coconut oil had a substantially greater impact on reducing protein loss in hair. The reasoning behind this lies in the oil’s structure. After shampooing, apply coconut oil to your hair and put it up in a bun for 10-15 minutes, or keep it in overnight! Rinse it off in the morning and your hair will feel like silk.

The special fatty acids in coconut oil naturally balance saturated to unsaturated fatty acids levels in the skin.
